Anyone who is planning on living in Cyprus should be aware of this Island trend. The biggest challenge about relocating to live in Cyprus is the language barrier. It is not easy to learn how to speak a foreign language but using even a few of the commonly used phrases will pay dividends and make your experience of living in Cyprus a much more enjoyable and rewarding one. You may probably have to purchase translation books or get a tutor to help you learn the basics but the friendly locals welcome anyone willing to give their language and culture a try...regardless of poor your initial attempts might be!!! However, if you expect to learn too much Greek in probably a years time, then you may end up being totally surprised because most people here speak English. Sadly, many of the English speaking ex pats residing make little attempt to learn even basic Cypriot; not always through laziness but in many cases due to the fact that the majority of Cypriots speak very good English.
